1. DAY 1 RUCU PICHINCHA
Will start from your hotel at 08:30 am. Our private transportation will pick you up from your hotel and then drive to teleférico cable car north-west part of Quito. It will take us 20 minutes to get there. We will take the cable car and get to 4.100msnm. After that, we will take a time for preparing our stuff to start this nice hiking into the Andes mountains. All this hike will take us 5 hours 9 km. We will pass the bear cave, Arenal spot to reach the Rucu Pichincha Summit 4696msnm that is one of the best experience. Box lunch is included and We will go back to the hotel around at 03:00 p.m.
2. DAY 2 NORTH ILINIZA
Ilinizas is an ancient volcano at the South of Quito. Around 5000 years ago, it was divided into two sections by a saddle. In this tour, we climb the North peak to an altitude of 5126 m / 16,818 ft. We depart from Quito at 7 a.m. in private transportation to La Virgen at 3900 m / 12,795 ft. From here, we walk around 6 hours to the Iliniza Norte summit. In case it is covered with snow we need crampons. Returning to our transportation in La Virgen takes around 3 hours. Then, we return to Quito around 5-6 p.m.
3. DAY 3 QUITO – COTOPAXI
We will leave Quito early in the morning around 11:00 a.m. and we will drive south along the Avenue of the Volcanoes until we reach to the entrance of Cotopaxi National Park. From here, we will head east to the Cotopaxi parking lot 4600m and then we’ll hike for about an hour to the José Ribas Refuge 4800 m. Then we will have dinner and rest until midnight. At this point we will pack our belongings and get ready to make our final ascent.
4. COTOPAXI – QUITO
Midnight will be our wake up time and the departure to the top 5897m. will be around 1am, after having a light breakfast and getting our stuff ready for the ascent. At the entrance of the glacier, your guide will explain all necesary tips needed for using crampons and ice axe if needed. The climb will take us about 6 to 8 hours and once at the summit we’ll take our time for pictures of the crater and surroundings, and then we’ll head back down the refuge, which will take us 2 to 3 hours. Once at the refuge we will pack our belongings, have something to eat and go down to the parking lot, where our transportation will be ready to take us back to Quito 2800m. We Will arrive in Quito around 2-3 p.m.
